Gynecomastia Surgery (Male Chest Reduction)

Gynecomastia is enlarged breast tissue in men, which can affect the chest's shape and a man's confidence. Gynecomastia surgery reduces this excess tissue — usually a combination of removing glandular tissue and liposuction of excess fat — to create a flatter, firmer chest contour. What is gynecomastia surgery?

The procedure addresses the two components of gynecomastia: firm glandular tissue (removed surgically) and excess fat (removed with liposuction). The balance between the two is tailored to your chest. The goal is a natural, flatter contour with discreet incisions.

Who might consider it?

Adult men in good general health with persistent gynecomastia that hasn't resolved, and with realistic expectations. At consultation, the likely cause is considered — since some cases relate to medications, health conditions or significant weight change — and your surgeon will advise whether surgery is appropriate or whether another step should come first.

What to expect

After a detailed consultation and assessment, surgery is performed under general anaesthesia or sedation as advised. Glandular tissue is removed and liposuction refines the contour; incisions are kept as discreet as possible. Dr. Hatami performs the procedure in-house, with full pre- and post-operative guidance.

Recovery

Expect a rest period with swelling and tenderness that ease over the following weeks. A compression garment is usually recommended to support the chest, and strenuous activity is limited for a time set by your surgeon. Recovery differs for everyone — see the recovery guide.

Risks & considerations

Risks are discussed openly and include bleeding, infection, scarring, changes in nipple or chest sensation, asymmetry, and — in some cases — the possibility of recurrence, along with anaesthesia-related risk. Being fully informed is part of the decision.
