What is a tummy tuck?

Abdominoplasty addresses loose or excess abdominal skin and weakened or separated abdominal muscles (a condition common after pregnancy, known as diastasis recti). The surgeon removes the excess skin and, where needed, repairs the muscle wall to restore a firmer, flatter contour. It is not a treatment for excess weight — a stable weight beforehand supports a better, longer-lasting result.

Tummy tuck vs liposuction

Who might consider it?

It may suit adults in good general health, at a stable weight, with loose abdominal skin or muscle separation that hasn't responded to diet and exercise. If you are planning further pregnancies, your surgeon may suggest waiting, since pregnancy can reverse the result. Suitability is assessed individually.

What to expect

After a detailed consultation, surgery is performed under general anaesthesia. The incision is placed low on the abdomen (usually hip to hip, positioned to sit below the underwear line where possible); excess skin is removed and the muscle repaired as needed. Dr. Fadaei performs the procedure in-house, with full pre- and post-operative guidance.

Recovery

Expect a rest period with swelling, tightness and limited movement that ease over the following weeks. A supportive garment is usually advised, and strenuous activity and heavy lifting are restricted for a time set by your surgeon. Risks are discussed openly and include bleeding, infection, scarring, changes in skin sensation, fluid collection (seroma), delayed healing, and anaesthesia-related risk.
